How long does it usually take to land a product manager job?

One of the most common question Product Manager Dojo receives when talking to folks who are looking to make the transition into product management is how long the process will take. Having at this point helped dozens of both students and professionals land their next product manger roles, on average, it takes our clients anywhere between 6-12 weeks from start to finish.

Assuming you use the tailored product resume we build for you and follow the application strategy we lay out, you will be able to get your first offer within 3 months. It might take some people only 6-8 weeks while it might take other people 10-12 weeks but all of the clients we have worked with have landed something by the 3 month mark.

Again, if you are coming from a very overlapping professional background like software engineering or product marketing, then your transition to PM will probably be a lot smoother. However we have worked with clients who have come from watchmaking and restaurateur backgrounds who have also been able to successfully garner multiple product manager offers. Your background is much less important than how you are able to sell yourself on the resume and how you apply, both of which Product Manager Dojo specializes in.
