Today is Thanksgiving, which unofficially marks the start of the holiday season which runs until the end of the year. Many applicants are under the impression that during this period of time, barely any recruiting happens and that it is a waste of time to even apply for positions. It would be better to wait until the start of the new year to start getting their resumes out there.
However here at Product Manager Dojo, having helped multiple clients land product manager jobs between Thanksgiving and New Year's, we can say with certainty that it is absolutely possible to land a PM role during this holiday period. While it is true that the recruiting process takes a bit longer as there is a higher chance of different interviewers might be on vacation, it does not stop entirely. Companies that need to fill a product manager position won't stop interviewing candidates just because it is December.
Therefore, you MUST KEEP ON applying. In fact, you should apply even harder because there are going to be plenty of other candidates who don't apply so there is actually going to be less competition than usual. Keep the momentum going so that even if you aren't able to land something by end of year, you are in a fantastic position to do so in January or February. One last item to keep in mind is to not get discouraged if it takes longer than usual for companies to get back to you during the holiday season. it is natural given the fact a lot of people will be out of office at this time.
